with an island brunch/supper!

Hvar has been known around as ''the island of lavender'' for centuries. This fragrant herb with its extraordinary medicinal properties, grows in lush fields in some of the island's most picturesque places. Fifty years ago Hvar accounted for 8% of the world’s total lavender oil production; but now it’s very limited as agricultural land has become more valuable real estate development.. But the magic lavender world that permeate this majestic island is still here! It’s a story of perennial battles between locals and limestone--deciding rock by rock who would tame the harsh landscape for a small piece of fertile soil to grow lavender. We will take you to where the story about this precious plant begins to learn how lavender forever changed life on Hvar, After enjoying the walk side by side with one of the island’s last local lavender growers, we’ll end our wonderful afternoon in the charming little village of Velo Grablje (or the private house of your host.) to enjoy a delightful brunch or supper, singing and a visit to two small churches. Our Island Lavender Walk not only will help you discover the simplicity of mother nature, but also how the sincerity and hospitality of people for whom lavender is still a passion, makes our island so special.

Tour description: This half day program for small groups starts at 9AM Or, late afternoon at 5PM. We'll visit the lavender fields around Velo Grablje, just a 10 min drive from Hvar Old Town. After our 45 min gentle walk we'll reach the Velo Grablje lavender distillery where we will take a brief tour to see how lavender is made into aromatics. Then we will stroll to a central part of the village visiting the St.Kuzma and Damian church where you will enjoy local traditional a cappella singing, Then it's time for either a delicious brunch or supper prepared using local delicacies served on the central square of the Velo Grablje, or if bad weather at house of your host.
Meeting point: We will pick you up at your hotel, villa, private accommodation, where your boat is moored or meet you at one of our four tour booths in Hvar Town. We will agree on this when the tour is booked.
Departure time: 9AM for morning program or 5PM for afternoon program. This tour can also be arranged at a time that is convenient for you, so please ask us what your unique requirements are and we will be happy to get back to you with the particulars and our price.
End location: We will end this tour where you wish - at the marina, your hotel, villa or private accommodation. Just let us know
Duration: This is a half day program.

What's extra: This program includes lunch or dinner, but not gratuities to guides and items purchased for personal use. Please bring also hat, sun cream and a towel because it is hot, especially in the afternoon hours.
